The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) prepares students for meaningful, high-impact careers across the health and human services professions through immersive, hands-on, experiential learning. Guided by faculty who are leaders in their fields, CHHS offers a diverse portfolio of undergraduate programs that blend rigorous academics with real-world practice.

Students can pursue bachelor of science degrees in communication sciences and disorders, exercise science, health and physical education, health management and policy, health sciences, human development and family studies, nursing, occupational therapy, public health, recreation management and policy, social work, and sport management and leadership.

Across all programs, students develop the professional knowledge, practical skills, and ethical foundations needed to thrive in today’s workforce. CHHS also intentionally supports pathways to graduate and professional education when advanced degrees are required for licensure or professional practice, ensuring students are well prepared for continued education and credentialing. A strong grounding in the humanities and social sciences further prepares graduates to lead with cultural competence, critical thinking, and a commitment to improving health and well-being in diverse communities.

CHHS Undeclared Major

CHHS also offers an undeclared option for students who are exploring their interests, providing structured advising and early exposure to disciplines across the college to help them identify the major that best aligns with their goals.

ACE First Year Experience Program

All CHHS students take part in the ACE (Academic and Career Engagement) First-Year Experience Program, a signature initiative designed to support a confident and successful transition from high school to college.

Through personalized academic and career coaching, ACE empowers first-year students to navigate academic and co-curricular resources, build skills in active learning, reflection, and decision-making, and explore a wide range of career pathways and alumni connections. The program also fosters a strong sense of belonging, engagement, and community within CHHS and the broader UNH campus.

During their first year, ACE students enroll in ACE seminars that introduce CHHS majors, support career exploration and goal-setting, and connect students with the many academic, wellness, and professional resources available at UNH. Each student is supported by a dedicated ACE peer mentor and ACE academic coach for ongoing guidance, as well as a faculty mentor within their major unit — ensuring personalized support at every step of the first-year journey.
